What a complete beginner needs first
Early guitar progress is usually less about memorising dozens of songs and more about getting a few fundamentals right: holding the instrument comfortably, producing clean notes, changing chords without excessive tension, keeping steady rhythm and training the ear to hear what is happening.
Chords and clean fretting
Learn how to place the fingers efficiently, reduce muted strings and move between useful chord shapes.
Rhythm and strumming
Build timing with repeatable strumming patterns instead of relying only on visual chord diagrams.
Playing with singing
The program introduces using the guitar as accompaniment so rhythm and vocals can develop together.
Musical independence
The long-term goal is to understand enough about rhythm, chords and listening to work on songs without permanent dependence on tutorials.
A practical beginner progression
Stage 1 — control the instrument
Posture, tuning, finger placement, basic rhythm and the first usable chord shapes.
Stage 2 — connect chords into music
Chord transitions, strumming consistency and simple song structures. Simple song sections are introduced when they match the skills you are developing.
Stage 3 — understand what you are playing
Develop musical sense around chord relationships, rhythm and listening so that practice becomes less dependent on memorisation.
Stage 4 — become more independent
Apply the foundation to new songs, sing while playing and learn how to figure out more material on your own.
What the first few beginner lessons can focus on
The early sequence is adjusted to the learner rather than locked to a rigid calendar. For a complete beginner, the first lessons can focus on a few practical building blocks before adding more material.
Comfort and clean sound
Basic posture, finger placement and how to make simple notes or chords ring more clearly.
First useful chord changes
Move between a small set of chords slowly enough to keep the shapes clean instead of rushing through many new chords.
Steady rhythm
Build a repeatable strumming pulse so the guitar starts to sound like music rather than isolated chord shapes.
Apply the skill to songs
Use simple song sections when they match the learner's level so the technique connects to real playing early.
What should a beginner practise between classes?
Short, focused practice is usually easier to sustain than occasional long sessions. A beginner can rotate clean chords, chord changes, rhythm and one small song section rather than trying to learn everything at once.
Use the beginner guitar practice plan for a structured routine, or the free Guitar Practice Planner & Timer to build a 15, 30 or 45 minute session.
Why home tuition can help a beginner
A beginner benefits from immediate correction because small physical habits—wrist angle, unnecessary pressure, awkward chord fingering or inconsistent timing—can become harder to change later. A private lesson at home also means you practise in the same setup where you normally play between classes.
Beginner questions
Do I need previous music experience?
No. Complete beginners can start from the fundamentals.
What age do you teach?
Lessons are available for learners aged 12 to 65, including complete beginners.
How much do beginner guitar lessons cost?
Private home lessons start at ₹999 for 30 minutes or ₹1,949 for one hour on a pay-as-you-go basis. The 24-session course costs ₹44,999; its first class is free, while pay-as-you-go lessons are charged from the first class. Check the full fees and course terms and confirm your Mumbai location and preferred time before booking.
How long is the full course?
The complete program currently contains 24 sessions with a 180-day validity period. The course defines the lesson format, not a guaranteed skill level by a fixed date.
Can I start if I have never played an instrument before?
Yes. The beginner path can start from basic posture, fretting, chord shapes and rhythm without assuming prior music training.
